The Aachen Colloquium, the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) and the Institute for Combustion Engines (VKA) of RWTH Aachen University invited numerous automobile-enthusiastic experts to a professional exchange of ideas. The 25th Aachen Colloquium Automobile and Engine Technology was held under the direction of Professor Lutz Eckstein (ika) and Professor Stefan Pischinger (VKA) at Eurogress Aachen on October 10th to 12th, 2016. With over 100 technical presentations and an extensive technical exhibition, the Aachen Colloquium has established itself as Europe’s largest conference in the field of automobile and engine technology. More than 1800 guests from over 30 countries visited the exhibition.
Experts in the industry presented current subjects from industry and research during selected technical presentations. Several of the 30 sessions during the colloquium solely addressed electromobility and hybridization of vehicles. Discussions on engines revolved around the introduction of new generations of gasoline and Diesel engines, and focused on methods involving electrification, combustion processes, emission concepts and exhaust after treatment for both passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The main theme of the colloquium was however, the field of automated driving, driver assistance systems and chassis trends. Also discussed was how to integrate customers in the development process and strategy concepts of the automotive industry.
