The role electronics play in EV’s cannot be overstated. We are growing our electronics and controls team rapidly. We need a technologist who thinks unconventionally. Someone who wants to build products and troubleshoot challenging problems with resilience and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform electrical engineering assignments associated with design, development or application.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering methods, procedures and criteria in testing operations.
  • Test/troubleshoot first-off prototype components and assemblies, providing results and feedback for product improvement.
  • Lead prototype build of embedded electronics (source, order, solder, test)
  • Prepare designs, calculations, proposal and revision to support engineering projects under direction.
  • Assist with quotations, feasibility reviews, drawing reviews, technical reports.
  • Work with the embedded and test team to facilitate the use of Litens in house test lab.
  • With assistance and supervision, start smaller-scale failure root-cause analysis, modifications and other work on the test platforms.
  • Support the other team members using the laboratory equipment, preparing for testing and updating the lab’s inventory.
  • Work with the software and embedded team to help develop and adopt improvements to the lab’s equipment, infrastructure and tools.
  • Contribute to the efforts on root-cause analysis for in-lab equipment failures

Qualifications

  • College Diploma in Electrical Technologies or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience working in an electronics test lab environment:
  • Strong hands-on experience using standard laboratory equipment, such as power supplies, multimeter, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Knowledge and awareness of safety procedures pertaining to an embedded electronics lab.
  • Strong electronics rework skills:
  • Ability to solder small-feature SMD components (passives down to 0402, ICs up to high-pin-density QFP) using soldering irons.
  • Experience doing “prototyping mods”, such as cutting traces, drilling PCB, Installing jumper wires, etc.
  • Ability to interpret and understand electronics schematics.
  • Experience with hardware integration/mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability working with machine tools, such as drill presses, rotary tools (“Dremmels”), small band saws, etc.
  • Experience making 3D models in CAD software (solidworks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
  • Experience or familiarity with designing PCBs considered as asset
