  • College or university Engineering degree in Mechanical, Process, or Machine Mechanics
  • Sigma Green/Black Belt or Lean certification would be an asset in the role
  • Four years’ experience in the automotive industry, some experience with Process Design and /or Maintenance of Machines.
  • Strong Mechanical aptitude, ability to troubleshoot and quickly diagnose mechanical problems and recommend solutions to support groups i.e. maintenance, process Eng, Set Up personnel.
  • Experienced with calculations involving cost saving and improvement justifications
  • Good understanding of Lean & Sigma concepts including 8 Wastes, 5S, Line Balancing, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, APQP, FMEA, DOE, SPC, etc…
  • Experience with Project Management and managing multiple project accountabilities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of CSA, and ANSI, SAE, TS16949 and other industry /customer related standards and specifications.
  • Computer skills (MS office, Lotus Notes, Solid Works, AutoCad)
  • Excellent (English) communication/ presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to analyze data and propose improvement solutions.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with Leadership, Support Groups, and Operators to identify process improvement opportunities within Manufacturing Operations.
  • Intimately investigates process performance and troubleshoots mechanical or programming problems
  • Communicates solutions to process problems to Manufacturing Operations Group and other affected departments.
  • Takes the lead in the development of corrective action plans, identifies ownership, and manages accountability to task deadlines.
  • Work with MFE and other support groups to ensure process performance meets expectation following program launches, commissioning, or process enhancement.
  • Responds quickly with short process DOE studies to validate root cause and propose solutions.
  • Initiates Lean process improvements and works with support groups and operators to implement
  • Maintains process trend charting as required, monitors process performance and communicates regularly.
  • Participates in customer complaint investigations and problem resolution. Provides technical support to the team.
  • Maintains expert level capability on the Shoplogix shop floor monitoring tool.
  • Utilizes Shoplogix data to identify areas of concerns and generate metrics to support improvement actions.
  • Coordinates information sharing with Continuous Improvement and Finance departments as necessary.
  • Evaluates Ideas for Improvement submitted from operations employees and presents findings during monthly review meeting.
