Manager, Information Technology


A manager of network systems is an information technology professional who oversees the implementation and administration of computer and telecommunication networks for the organization. This professional ensures the integrity of information stored and transmitted on networks, as well as improve networks’ capabilities as technology continues to advance.



Direct and oversee employees who maintain, support and repair network systems and technology.

Following an established financial budget, defines network requirements by working with other departments and information technology professionals. Select appropriate network products, define policies, procedures and protocols, then implement network systems to meet the needs of the organization.

Ensure the network’s security is not compromised. This includes designing and supporting a secure system setup, as well as administration of security tools and solutions for the network. This involves denying protocols and monitoring network access by employees.

Maintain, document and implement IS disaster recovery policies and procedures.

Ensure information security and access control profiles are enforced.

Recommend network products, services, protocols and standards in support of network enhancements and development efforts.

Plan, acquire and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware / software.

Oversees the acquisition, deployment and operational effectiveness of; Servers, Operating systems and software, Network hardware and equipment, Security solutions, VOIP and landline communications, Mobile user accounts and hardware, Employee issued hardware and Help desk.



Bachelor Degree (4 year) in Computer Science / Computer Engineering or related field.

Eight (8) years of experience working with network systems, telecommunication systems and data management.

Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience including supervisory and project management responsibilities.

Extensive knowledge of information technology theory, principles and practices which include: Computer hardware, software, local and wide area network systems, Client/server network protocols and Internet/Intranet applications and Network security requirements and disaster recovery procedures.

Business Acumen; Familiarity with basic profit & loss concepts, labour budgeting, procurement and budgeting of IT capital assets and negotiation skills.  Must have excellent communication skills.
