Quality Engineering – One Year Contract


JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Participates in the cross functional APQP process and represents the Quality Department in the development of the overall quality plan to ensure that customer and internal requirements are satisfied (i.e., Flawless Launch).
  • Supports PPAP activities in preparation for both internal and external customer PPAP submissions including:
    • Supporting supplier PPAP activity including review of supplier PPAP documents.
    • Development of the Pre-Launch and Production Control Plans.
    • Supporting internal Tool Trial and PPAP builds.
    • FMEA and Control Plan and Error-Proofing Verification Log.
    • Providing information and instruction to the Quality Inspectors for the measurement of product characteristics (i.e., what to measure and how?).
    • Facilitating the measurement of finished assemblies with the layout technicians.
    • Facilitating the compilation of statistical capability studies for special characteristics.
    • Taking the lead in action planning and problem solving for any nonconformities identified throughout PPAP activities (e.g., dimensional, material, statistical).
    • Supporting or taking the lead in preparation of customer specific PPAP documents
  • Directs, coaches, supports and delegates work activities for the Supervisors, Inspection and Testing as they relate to:
    • Performing on-going In-Process inspection of product in accordance to specified control plans.
    • Segregating and identifying suspect and nonconforming product.
    • Issuing ICN’s and SCAR’s for internal and supplier issues.
    • Overseeing sorting, repair or rework activities as specified on SOI’s that have been issued.
  • Acts as the main Quality Contact for customer quality related complaints (i.e., CCN’s).
  • Leads disciplined problem resolution process in response to customer, internal or supplier related issues.
  • Leads and/or supports customer visits and audits as required.
  • Plans and executes internal product and process audits to ensure compliance and effectiveness to specified requirements.
  • Interfaces with all other engineering functions within the organization and with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues.
  • Represents the Quality Department during the daily Fast Response meetings and provides support to production operations for quality related responsibilities and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Engineering Degree or 3 years Technology Diploma with three years automotive experience. Experience interfacing with customers.
  • Proficient in technical report writing and proficient using MS Office.
  • Able to perform basic dimensional inspection & measurement techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of inspection and test equipment including torque transducers, load cells and air gauge columns.
  • Working knowledge of core quality tools including APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA and MSA.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings including a strong understanding of GD&T.
  • Demonstrated understanding of problem solving process using various tools and techniques.
