Oversee all design projects, from conception to delivery
Design tests to validate mechanical and electrical components (Litens Products) for use in OE automotive applications, from given specification documents or original test designs based on skilled knowledge of the components and operating environment.
Supervise junior and new designers daily. Provide technical advice, training and guidance. Review final layouts of other designers to evaluate manufacturing feasibility, ensure an overall consistency and quality across all projects, and suggest improvements when necessary
Consult with customers to brainstorm ideas, review code compliance, and determine overall needs and timelines of projects
Oversee and coordinate the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with design specifications
Estimate cost and time of completing design projects. Meet deadlines by setting priorities
Develop interactive machine control and display systems for in house testing machinery.
Design, research, specify and source test equipment for data acquisition and control.
Design electrical/electronic systems/sub-systems for engineering testing equipment and fixtures including specification and sourcing.
Interface test machinery and systems to automotive devices including engine control computers, digitally controlled components such as alternators, actuators, motors and sensors.
Design specify and source devices used to load or simulate loading of automotive electrical systems (load banks, batteries, etc).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
BSc Electrical Engineering with knowledge of Canadian electrical code
Ability to work independently but also collaborate with teammates
Demonstrated expertise in control programming
Knowledge of environmental test procedures
Keen awareness of manufacturing standards
Knowledge of latest electrical test equipment and measurement techniques
Ability to work independently under pressure without supervision, handle multiple projects with conflicting priorities.
Knowledge/experience of design in the following areas will receive preference; magnetic materials, batteries, servo motors, motor drives, energy recovery.
Experience with automotive systems is preferred
